Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been putting the Gonicc 8" Professional Secateurs to work in my garden, pruning roses, hydrangeas, and buddleias. They’ve quickly become my go-to tool for tidying up the yard. These secateurs are sharp and they cut through stems with precision, leaving nice clean edges that plants appreciate. The sturdy build gives me confidence when I’m tackling thicker branches, and overall, they feel like pretty good quality for the price. Let’s be real, though - they’re not Felcos. They don’t have that premium heft or flawless engineering, but at a fraction of the cost, they’re a solid alternative for anyone who doesn’t want to splurge. I’ve been impressed with how well they perform for everyday pruning tasks. The jury’s still out on their longevity, though - I’ll need a few more months to see how they hold up. One small gripe: the foam padding on the handles slid around a bit during use, which got annoying fast. I ended up pulling it off entirely, and honestly, they’re fine without it. The locking mechanism is a nice touch - easy to flick on and off with one hand, which is handy when I’m juggling tools. For the money, these are a practical choice for gardeners who want reliable performance without breaking the bank. I’d recommend them if you’re after value and don’t need top-tier perfection!

Sharp, precise, very well engineered, provides clean precise cuts for 2-3 seasons with minimal maintenance and excellent tactile feedback. For most non-professional uses - this is ideal balance between quality, durability and price. There are better secateurs out there (this one is higher end of midrange), but they all start at £35-40.

Nice pair of shears. Cuts well. Decent grip but handle covers do start to slip when used for a bit. They can just be slid back into place so no major issue.

Malgré les avis divers avis négatifs ce sécateur est très bien. Je travail en pépinière et l'utilise au quotidien depuis maintenant 3 semaines, ce sécateur est très efficace et agréable à utiliser. La lame ne plie pas à la première branche comme indiqué dans un autre avis. Je le trouve suffisamment costaud pour son prix, seul la mousse semble un peu fragile, mais qu'importe, dessous le manche est semblable à du felcho et semble assez résistant . Les coupes son franches et il mérite cette note au rapport qualité/ prix

Update: I had the retaining screw that holds the lock sprocket for the center sprocket strip out. This allowed the center sprocket to loosen and come undone. I contacted Gonicc by email, and within hours had an email back apologizing for my troubles and had a discount code to order a new pair for free. They also included in the email that should I still be unsatisfied they would gladly refund my entire purchase price. Unbeatable customer service!!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These are great pruners. I have really enjoyed using them in my rose garden since receiving them. Here's some thoughts: Pros - Price. I feel these were very reasonably priced for the quality that you get. So much so in fact, that I bought two pairs, one pair for me and one for my wife. - Sharp! These things are incredibly sharp. I also found that when trimming thick rose canes, they cut clean through and don't tend to turn sideways making tearing cuts like some other cheap pruners I've used. - Ergonomic. The foam grips on the handles don't bite into your hands like pruners with plastic and metal handles can tend to do. They are really comfortable. I do feel that this is where they could fail after long-term use. I think that there's a chance that this foam will break down and/or tear. I wouldn't say this is a deal breaker, as that's the nature of such a material. We'll see how long they last and if the manufacturer can provide replacement grips should they do fail. Cons: None to report for now. Overall, these are superb pruning shears. They have already taken a beating in my rose garden and remain sharp, with no issues to report. They cut great and I look forward to using them for a long time. Time will truly tell how well they last. If they make it more than two years, I will consider them a resounding success, as that's all I've got out of any other pair that I've owned.
